[HOW TO] Install Silverlight Plugin in Xubuntu

In this article we'll learn how to install the Silverlight Plugin in Xubuntu (tested in Firefox and Xubuntu 14.04). We'll install Pipelight, which is a plugin that allows to view Silverlight videos in Ubuntu which is needed to use services as Netflix or MEO Go.

Install

Open a terminal window and run:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:pipelight/stable -y && sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install pipelight -y && sudo pipelight-plugin --update && sudo pipelight-plugin --enable silverlight && sudo pipelight-plugin --create-mozilla-plugins

Usage

Restarting your browser after installing and grant permission to run the plugin when the browser asks for it.

    I Did this, and it says that silverlight is enabled. but when i try to run netflix, then it still says i need to install silverlight.

    Any ideas?

    I don't understand very much about this, dose someone know waht went wrong?
    E: Konnte Sperre /var/lib/dpkg/lock nicht bekommen - open (11: Die Ressource ist zur Zeit nicht verfügbar)
    E: Sperren des Administrationsverzeichnisses (/var/lib/dpkg/) nicht möglich, wird es von einem anderen Prozess verwendet?

      Please check if you have another package manager open while trying to install these packages.

Add items to Xfce Applications Menu

To add an application launcher to Xfce Applications Menu is simple; all you have to do is place the *.desktop file that launches the application in the right folder.
