To get pressure sensitivity, open the "Configure Input Devices" dialog (Edit > Input Devices) and then set the mode for each tablet device (usually there're 3: stylus, eraser and cursor|touch) to Screen.

  2. Mine doesn't list anything for my tablet, even though I used it to open the program... Augh, I'm so confused

    1. I never had that problem. Could you tell the brand and model of your tablet, so that I can investigate further?

    1. Do you mean the empty "install" section? It got there by mistake.

  4. Hey there. Do you know if this can be applied to a computer touch screen? I'm not talking about a digital pad, I'm talking like actually drawing on the screen itself with my pen. I have gimp and when I open up the same preferences and things you show it only shows "pointer" and nothing else, like "pen" or anything. Just "pointer". Is there any way around this? THANKS

    1. If your device supports pressure sensitivity, yes it'll work. However, it'll only work for the stylus. Touch usually doesn't provide pressure sensitivity. Your problem seems that you don't have your device properly installed/recognized. Can't you tell me the model of your device?

  5. I've been struggling with the problem that when I use the program GIMP 2.8 (I think) it won't detect pressure sensitivity. I've tried to do like this article says but unfortunately it won't work. The other dynamics work completely fine. I've tried so many things to fix this problem. I don't even know if I've been on the right track. I could really use some help. If it will help any then I got the Intuos Pen & Touch tablet from Wacom.

    Thanks for the help!

    1. Please check that you're using the brush tool with the "Pressure Opacity" dynamics.

    2. I've already put it to "Pressure Opacity". It still doesn't seem to work. Are there other settings that needs to be changed?

    3. It's already set to "Pressure Opacity". Could there be any other kind of settings that needs to be changed?

  6. It does not seem like the reply button works? Or then the approval might just be slow. I'm not sure. I'll post me reply here for the answer: "Please check that you're using the brush tool with the "Pressure Opacity" dynamics."

My reply: It's already set to "Pressure Opacity". Could there be any other settings that might need to be adjusted?

    1. Just to make sure that there isn't a problem with your hardware, could you install MyPaint and test the pressure with it? It should work out of the box.
      Here's how to install MyPaint:
      sudo apt-get install mypaint -y

    2. The pressure does not seem to work in MyPaint either?

    3. I've tried several models with MyPaint and they all worked out of the box.
In MyPaint try: Help > Debug > Test Input Devices. Then see if the "Pressure" value changes.

    4. Under "Pressure" it says "(no pressure)"? I might have disabled a setting in my search for a solution.

    5. Did you change anything in the drivers configuration, for instance did you change the xorg.conf file?

    6. I have not been able to find this file? But I have been in the drivers to change some properties a while ago. I don't know if it is related to the problem. The change of the properties actually made the pressure sensitivity work but since it changed something else on my computer I changed these settings back to where they were. Unfortunately I do not remember in which driver I changed the properties.

    7. Not knowing what you did makes it quite hard to diagnose. But can you test your tablet on another system? For now we ought to make sure the hardware isn't faulty.

  7. I've now tried to test my tablet on various computers without success. My tablet does not seem to work on other computers at all which I don't understand. (Sorry for not responding in a long time)

    1. I was suspecting it might be the hardware. If the Intuos is still under warranty, send it to repair.

    2. But I've already made the pressure opacity work once? I think it might have something to do with some settings on my computer that isn't set right. Or could I be wrong?

    3. For some reason it all of sudden seem to work. But now the pen is delayed when I'm drawing. How can this be fixed?

    4. Does it lag all the time (even when not using any program)?
What version of Xubuntu and GIMP are you using? I'm asking this because there was an old bug on past versions.

    5. It's only when I use the program GIMP that it does this, and only when I've done the tutorial this article is referring to.
I'm using GIMP 2.8.14. I don't know what you mean with Xubuntu, sorry.
