  2. thank you for the answer! your method is the best because you give the problem solved posting the right commands. explanations are not for people that are in the first week with linux! without thing like system restore or lethe i installed the system 10 times! :)

    1. I'm glad you find my posts useful :)

I hope I'm not misunderstanding, but lethe is not a backup program. What it does is "freeze" the state of a partition, so that when the system is restarted all changes are discarded. It's useful for public computers in schools or cybercafes because at each new login the default configurations are preserved.

  4. and if will do this with lethe i have another problem with backup the system. i don"t know how and you are the best with this kind of explanations wich are very very clear! maybe you'll take a look at back in time. if you know something better no problem!
and a questions: i don't have to much space and i erased a number of wallpapers but i gained no free space. why? 800 mb are important for me! i'm running linux voyager built on xubuntu.

as an absolute beginner is better to take something like this. in the future i'll take the original xubuntu bun i need time.

    thank you!

    1. Without more specifics I can't tell you exactly why you didn't recovery any disk space.
However, I'm guessing that you probably only deleted the links to the wallpapers. Some distributions place some example pictures on your ~/Pictures directory and this pictures are just symbolic links.
In Xubuntu the wallpapers are located in: /usr/share/xfce4/backdrops. Since Voyager is Xubuntu based, you could try that one.
To save disk space you can try: sudo apt-get clean. The last I run this command recovered 1GB of disk space. Also you can check this tip concerning package installation: http://goo.gl/z0y2X
